Ra's and Bruce had been fighting for nearly an hour, with the Dark Knight gradually gaining the upper hand. Bruce usually took hero combat seriously, but for someone like Ra's, he didn’t feel the usual fear. The ageless man was as terrifying to Bruce as the Joker had been, and now that they shared a bloodline through Damian, Bruce decided to have some fun.

Bruce (giving the old man a noogie): Give up!

Ra's (struggling to break free): You’re so immature!

Bruce: You’re so old that you were a teen when Lincoln got shot!

Ra's: You son of an American dog! Cut it with the old man jokes!

Ra’s managed to break away and kicked Bruce in the stomach, knocking him back.

Bruce (his knees buckling as he stared at the ground): God, that felt good. This is making me feel alive again!

Ra's (getting angrier at the not being taken seriously): You're making this weird!

Bruce: That’s why I haven’t stopped. Oh, I’m sorry—you haven’t heard a woman beg like that since Nelson Mandela was born.

Ra's Al Ghul (shouting): That one was uncalled for! Stop insulting me! I see your knees buckling, you’re weak. Just fall down and think of hell!

Ra’s slammed his fist into Bruce’s nose, an audible crack echoing through the room. He flipped the man onto the ground with a loud thud. Ra’s shook with anger, smirking initially, thinking he had won, until Bruce started laughing.

It was a slow, dry chuckle at first, which grew into uproarious laughter that echoed through the fighting room and spilled into the castle halls. Hearing Bruce’s joyful cackles, the staff, Talia, and Bruce’s sons rushed to the room.

Ra's (stomping his foot on Bruce’s hand): Stop laughing!

Bruce (grinning through his pain): Give me a reason, you sad old man! You're just so adorable when you're mad like I get with the Joker. It's funny from an outside viewpoint.

Ra's: No it's not! At least when it's me it's not! Quit laughing or... or...

Bruce: You'll what? Kill me? I dare you. I double dare you! Break me five hundred more times, and maybe I’ll start feeling the pleasure you lost long ago. You're not going to kill me though.

Ra's paused realizing that this was true and while killing Bruce would be satisfying, he had about four boys, one angry daughter and a Cass that would make him regret it.

Bruce took Ra's pause as a chance to grip Ra’s leg with his free hand, knocking the man to the ground again, still laughing as he stood up. Walking over to Ra’s, Bruce grabbed the swordsman by the neck and put him in a headlock.

Bruce: Say it.

Ra's: Fuck you!

Bruce: After you say it.

Ra's (feeling the tightness of Bruce’s arm around his neck): I… will not give you that satisfaction.

Bruce (tightening his grip): I can knock you unconscious and walk out of here without worry, because of who the mother of my child is. Trust me, beating you up could last me a week.

Ra's (relenting): Fine! You win! You’re one of the few who’ve bested me in a fight. Happy now?

Bruce (releasing Ra’s like he was a sack of potatoes): Yes. Yes, I am. My parents would be proud.

Ra’s moaned in pain, lying on the ground for a few seconds.

Bruce (returning to his stoic attitude): Ra’s, you held out for a while. Here, some golf claps for that.

Bruce gave sarcastic golf claps causing the older man to curse in his native tongue.

Ra's: You can cease enjoying this. This is only one victory for you.

Bruce: Whatever you say, Ray-man.

Ra's (rolling onto his back): You know what my name is.

Bruce: And I don’t care to always say it right. I’m going to take a shower. See you for summer vacation.

Bruce stepped over Ra’s, whistling happily. Ra’s slowly stood, hand on his sore back, and limped away in the opposite direction to immediately heal himself in the Lazarus Pit. Neither of them noticed their respective families watching through security cameras.

Talia (tapping her chin): I am torn at the outcome of this fight.

Damian (with an opposite reaction): Yay! Baba won!

Dick: I’m not surprised about the victory; I’m more surprised at how he was acting. He hasn’t acted like that in years.

Jason (eating popcorn): Right? I loved it!

Talia (to Dick): I blame you for this.

Dick: I blame you for many things.

Dick left, followed by Jason, who started laughing when Talia’s face turned red. Damian’s joy at seeing Bruce win softened her anger soon after.

Talia: At least you're happy.

10 year old Danny Fenton doesn’t have any friends and he wishes with all his heart that he did, his parents didn’t pay much attention to him paying more attention to the ghost portal they’ve almost completed. His sister was too overbearing and acted more like a mother than a friend. So one night he speaks out into the sky with his window open,

“I don’t know if anyone is listening but if you are can we be friends?”

little does he know Superman who recently got his super-hearing hears him.

“Yes I will” Superman replies to himself.

Superman listens to Danny every night as he talks about his life. A month goes by and the portal is complete but it doesn’t work. Danny goes inside after his parents aren’t home… He’s electrocuted and screams the pain’s unbearable. Superman flies straight to him hearing the screams of his friend.

When Danny comes to he’s looking straight at Superman.

“Danny!! Are you OK?”

“How do you know my name??”

okay so i was going to post a poll on peoples' interpretations of taako & sazed's relationship but i went and looked back at the transcript of the chalice episode and i can't even post a poll because i just can't think of enough options that would actually be supported by the text?

its very very clearly a predatory apprenticeship where taako is getting free labor from sazed in exchange for teaching him, and then sazed begins to feel entitled to an equal share, at which point taako shuts him down and speaks to him in actually a pretty cruel way.

taako 'hired' sazed to be a driver and assistant and "general roadie" and i think it's perfectly fine for taako to not want him to be performing as an equal partner, but also, he was clearly taken advantage of. like sazed's proposition is an equal split of both the work and the "glory" and presumably the profit, which is a fair suggestion, but also fair for taako to turn down. but also taako was exploiting sazed's adoration in order to not pay him for his work.

i don't think that equal partnership was something taako ever even let on could be a possibility, he's pretty clear in the conversation he has with sazed that it's not something he's interested in and he "doesn't wanna keep having this conversation." its definitely something sazed really wants, but i don't think it was ever promised to him, it seems like something he's thought of that he's bringing to taako, who immediately shuts it down.

and as unfair as paying for a lot of work with cooking lessons is, it seems like that's what sazed agreed to, and it's also worth acknowledging that even though this is an arrangement i would consider unfair within my own cultural context, it could be considered completely normal and fair in faerun, like similar to a blacksmith's apprentice or something

so i guess the only questions are what sazed agreed to and why, and whether or not taako actually liked him or was just mean to him all the time. idk its all very interesting on its own let alone when compared to taako's later relationships with angus & ren, but not really open to as much interpretation as i’d thought
